Swaddle bath

I'm delighted to introduce you to a unique sensory experience: the swaddle bath. This gentle moment is a magical interlude for newborns and their parents alike.

The enveloped bath consists of bathing the newborn in body-temperature water (around 37° and 38°C) and keeping him or her partially immersed with gentle, fluid, enveloping movements. This is not simply a hygiene bath, but a gentle ritual in which baby is wrapped in a muslin, recreating the womb's envelope, both containing and reassuring. This approach enables the baby to rediscover familiar sensations and comforting positions, and to revisit his memories, expressing his emerging history. It provides immediate soothing and helps strengthen the bond between baby and parents.

The swaddle bath goes beyond the simple physical act; it serves the emotions, seeking to touch you deeply from within. It helps to release tension, console and put words to the sometimes difficult experiences, while creating and strengthening the precious bond between you and your baby.

It's a magical, deeply moving treatment, offering a moment of gentleness and letting go, favorable to relaxation and emotional connection. I look forward to accompanying you on this wonderful adventure of the swaddle bath,  where each bath becomes an enriching experience for the whole family.

Benefits for the baby

The benefits of a swaddle bath are many and precious for the newborn.

The bath allows the baby to relive his or her sensations in utero, offering a comforting and familiar experience.

It helps release the physical tensions accumulated during childbirth and soothes the emotional tensions experienced during pregnancy.

This gentle transition from life in utero to life on earth strengthens the bond between parents and child, and is a privileged moment of meeting and discovery.

By returning to its natural environment, water, and being wrapped in swaddling clothes, as in the uterine wall, it can achieve total soothing, letting go and deep relaxation.

Water also helps relieve cranial tension, such as torticollis or plagiocephaly, bringing additional comfort to the newborn.

For who ?

For all babies!

Even more so for those who have experienced a difficult birth.

To ensure that your baby retains a memory of his intra-uterine life, the swaddle bath is ideally used from birth to 21 days of life (4 weeks maximum) after term. If your baby was born a little early or prematurely, the term age is taken into account (corrected age) plus 21 days.

You may decide that the swaddle bath is your baby's first bath.

How the treatment works ?

The swaddle bath is best performed during the first two to three weeks of a full-term baby's life. The bath itself lasts no more than 20 minutes, but the whole session lasts about an hour. It is important that the baby is not hungry during the bath.

After a time of welcome and exchange about pregnancy, childbirth and the first days with baby, the treatment can begin gently.

I undress and wrap your baby in a muslin, and the bath can begin.

During this treatment, I invite the parents to participate if they wish and if their baby is sufficiently relaxed. This bonding bath allows you to feel your baby relax, to see him or her in a new light, and to take a unique moment of well-birth, sometimes experienced by the family as a rebirth.

When the baby comes out of the bath, I'll prepare a towel heated by a hot-water bottle to ensure a gentle transition.

After the bath, we'll take our time to allow the baby to gently "come back" from this moment, with skin-to-skin contact, a feed or bottle, a massage or simply a cuddle.

Throughout this ritual, I take the time to talk to the baby, explain what's going on and name any feelings he may have. After the bath, parents also have time to reflect on their feelings, on what they've just experienced with their child.
